PrimaWellness Physical Therapy FAQs

Your women’s health physical therapy will arrive at the location you’ve agreed on with her treatment table and the tools needed.

There may or may not be an internal exam, which will be discussed at your initial evaluation and will not occur without your consent and comfort.

There may be an internal exam depending on your specific situation and as long as there are no contraindications to this type of assessment. Sometimes, an internal exam is warranted in order to assess the pelvic floor muscles, which may be contributing to your incontinence and/or pelvic pain symptoms.

With the current healthcare system as it is, and the strong desire and mission we have at PWPT to give you the best possible care, we have chosen to opt out of working in-network with health insurance companies.  We, as physical therapists, don’t want to feel that our treatment has to be restricted based on current insurance plans, making it impossible to provide adequate care. We are out of network with all insurance companies and do not accept health insurance as payment. We do, however, accept all FSA & HSA cards for payment and can easily provide you a SuperBill to be able to independently file a claim if you so choose.

We are primarily a mobile physical therapy practice, which means that we come to you in order to provide physical therapy services in your home or office. We do also have a space in Irvine, CA that we can rent if you would feel more comfortable being treated in an actual office setting.

Out-of-network provider reimbursement is eligible with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA) or a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA). Out-of-network provider reimbursement is ineligible with limited care flexible spending accounts (LCFSA) and dependent care flexible spending accounts (DCFSA). You can use any FSA & HSA cards for payment without any hassle or extra paper work at the time of service.

For traditional physical therapy services (including, but not limited to: manual therapy, therapeutic exercises and activities, etc). Dr. Adrena is allowed to see you for 45 consecutive business days, or 12 visits, whichever comes first, without a prescription according to California State Law. If treatment is required beyond those 45 days (or 12 visits), a prescription will be required from your physician.

If you are a client being seen purely for wellness services, then a prescription or referral is not necessary.

Absolutely! PWPT prides itself on providing care during times that most clinics are unavailable. Dr. Adrena is willing to work with her clients to figure out the best schedule that fits their needs, and she may be able to work you in on select weekends upon conversation and advanced planning.

If you have visited an outpatient PT clinic recently, then you have certainly gotten a feel for the typical flow of the in-network PT clinic. Often, you see a PT for a limited amount of time before you are then placed under the care of a PTA or PT tech/aide for 2-3 visits/week for about 4-6 weeks. Depending on your insurance, you may have a co-pay of up to or above $40-50/visit, which you pay prior to each visit, until you meet your deductible, which is often times many thousands of dollars. If this is the case, it often makes sense to utilize a cash-based PT practice that does not go through insurance and uses a flat-fee. A physical therapist working in a cash-based model can spend as much time one-on-one with you as is needed for you to potentially achieve faster results.
